Blackmon Named B1G Freshman of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Indiana freshman James Blackmon Jr., was named Freshman of the Week by the Big Ten Conference, the conference office announced on Monday, Nov. 24. He averaged 22.0 points and 6.0 rebounds while helping the Hoosiers to three wins last week.
It is the first weekly award from the Big Ten for the Fort Wayne, Ind., native, and the last IU freshman to receive Freshman of the Week accolades was Troy Williams on March 10, 2014.
In the three games last week, Blackmon connected on 54.1 percent (20-of-37) from the floor, including 13-of-21 from three-point range. He started his week with 19 points and five rebounds in the win over Texas Southern before pouring in 26 points - including five three-pointers - and hauling down seven boards against No. 22/23 SMU. He closed out the week with a 21-point, 6-rebound effort against Lamar on Saturday.
Shannon Scott (OSU) and Frank Kaminsky (WIS) were named Co-Players of the Week by the conference.
