KANSAS CITY -- The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) annually recognizes college and high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the field.
The Indiana women's soccer team was one of the women's college teams that achieved a 3.0 team GPA or higher during the 2013-14 academic year. With the assistance of academic advisor Eileen O'Rourke, the Hoosiers made it three straight seasons garnering the award, as they posted a team cumulative GPA of 3.42. It marks the seventh time in program history they have been recognized.
A total of 861 collegiate soccer teams (279 men, 582 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2013-14 academic year. Of that total, 188 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized.
Indiana has received the award in 1999, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2012, 2013, 2014.
*Note: This award runs one school year behind. This season's (2014-15) will be announced next November.
