• The Hoosiers are averaging 95.2 points per game. That total leads the Big Ten Conference.
• Before becoming the head coach at Indiana, Teri Moren spent the prior four seasons at the helm of the Indiana State program where she led the Sycamores to a Missouri Valley Conference championship in 2013-14 and the program’s first 20-win season in eight years.
• IU and ISU met in Terre Haute last year and the Hoosiers edged the Sycamores with a 57-54 victory on Nov. 15, 2013. The last time Indiana State played in Assembly Hall was Nov. 16, 2012 with IU winning that bout, 60-48.
• In four out of five games this year, IU has had 22 or more assists as a team, marking the first time an Indiana team has had 20 or more assists in four games in the same season since 2007-08. The Hoosiers are averaging 20.8 assists per game, ranking them second in the Big Ten.
• IU has had 11 or more steals in four games this year and nabbed 18 steals in back-to-back games to begin the season, marking the first time in program history an Indiana team had 18 steals in consecutive games. The last time an IU team had 10 or more steals in at least four games during the same season was in 2011-12.
• Four times this year, five or more Hoosiers have scored in double-figures in a game, including two games where six players tallied double-digit points. Prior to this year, the last time IU had six players score 10 or more points in the same game came in December 2008.

Rachael Mahan leads the ISU attack as the senior forward is averaging 14.4 points and 7.8 rebounds per game while shooting 60.4 percent from the field while also leading the team in blocks. Senior Chelsea Small scores 9.2 points per game with 5.6 rebounds per contest. The Sycamore defense is limiting opponents to score just 59.0 points per game so far this year and ISU opponents are shooting just 37.3 percent from the field. Indiana State is also forcing foes into 21.4 turnovers per contest so far this season.
GETTING OFFENSIVE
Through the first five games, Indiana has scored 476 total points and is averaging a Big Ten-leading 95.2 points per game. The 476 points in five games is a program record for scoring over a five-game stretch. Coming into the week, IU was tied for third nationally in scoring.
As a team, the Hoosiers are shooting 51.1 percent from the field to lead the Big Ten and are hitting 39.8 percent from long distance. IU is outscoring opponents by a +39.6 point margin and have scored 198 more points than opponents have so far this year.
In four games this year, IU has had five or more players score in double-figures, including two contests where six players tallied double digits. Prior to this season, the last time Indiana had six players score in double-figures in the same game was Nov. 14, 2008 vs. Ball State.
Through five games, four Indiana players are averaging double-figure points in Tyra Buss (17.2 ppg), Jenn Anderson (14.2 ppg), Larryn Brooks (13.8 ppg) and Amanda Cahill (11.8 ppg).
PASSING THE PUMPKIN
In four of Indiana’s five games, IU has had 22 or more assists as a team and are currently averaging 20.8 assists per game to rank second in the conference. The Hoosiers have not had four games of 20 or more assists in the same season since 2007-08 when IU had four games for 20 or more dimes that year. The Hoosiers had 25 assists in the season opener vs. Gardner-Webb on Nov. 25, which ranks in the top eight for most assists ever in a single game by an IU team. Indiana dished for 23 assists vs. Morehead State on Nov. 21 and 22 assists against Incarnate Word on Nov. 23 and vs. ETSU on Nov. 26.
BEWARE OF STEALERS
IU has had 11 or more steals in four games this season, including 18 steals in each of the first two games of the year, marking the first time in program history an IU team had 18 or more steals in back-to-back games. The 18 steals ties for the fourth-most steals in a single game in program history. Prior to this season, the last time an Indiana team had 18 steals in a game was Dec. 5, 2007 vs. Dayton (18). The last time an IU team had four games of 10 or more steals in the same year came during the 2011-12 season.
LIMITING FOES
The Indiana defense has limited opponents to shoot just 34.2 percent from the field and 21.3 percent from 3-point range through five games. Only one time has an opponent shot 34.9 percent from the field in any game and hit more than 25.0 percent of their 3-point field goal attempts. By comparison, for the entire 2013-14 season, IU had seven opponents shoot 34.9 percent or less and this year the defense has already achieved that feat four times.
BUSS NAMED BIG TEN FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK TWICE
On Nov. 24, Indiana’s Tyra Buss was named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week. She also earned the honor the week prior by herself on Nov. 17. She becomes the first IU player to ever receive Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors on consecutive occasions and the second Hoosier to earn the award twice in the same season (Larryn Brooks, 2013-14). Buss becomes the first Indiana player to earn conference weekly laurels in back-to-back weeks since Cyndi Valentin was named Big Ten Player of the Week two straight times in 2005-06.
For the season, Buss leads the Hoosiers in scoring (17.2 ppg) and steals (4.6 spg) while shooting 51.6 percent from the field with 4.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.
BROOKS IS BACK
Indiana sophomore Larryn Brooks is starting right where she left off last season. Brooks scored a game-high 21 points in the win over ETSU on Nov. 26, shooting 8-of-13 from the field and 4-of-7 from 3-point range to go along with six assists, three boards and a steal. She’s averaging 13.8 points, 4.8 assists and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 40 percent from long distance so far in 2014-15.
Brooks had one of the most productive seasons by any freshman in the history of the program last year. She broke the IU freshman scoring record, tallying 554 points (7th on school single season list), breaking a 34-year-old freshman record held by Dorothy Reffel who scored 454 points in 1979-80. She was the first freshman in program history to ever eclipse 500 points in a season. Brooks also set freshman marks for 3-pointers made with 67 (T-4th), assists with 154 (3rd) and free throws made with 129. Brooks led the Hoosiers in scoring (16.3 ppg), field goals made (179), 3-point field goals made, 3-point field goal percentage (.379), free throws made, free throw percentage (.832) and assists.
Brooks earned Second Team All-Big Ten and Big Ten All-Freshman Team honors last season. She was the first Hoosier to earn second team all-conference honors since 2011 (Jori Davis) and just the fifth freshman ever at IU to be named to the conference’s all-freshman squad and the first since 2006 (Whitney Thomas).
JENN BECOMING A GEM
Sophomore Jenn Anderson has started in each of IU’s first five games and has made her presence known so far in 2014-15. Anderson is averaging 14.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game while shooting 63.8 percent from the field to lead the team in that category. Against Incarnate Word on Nov. 23, Anderson scored a career-high 21 points, shooting 8-of-11 from the field with four boards and a block. Last time out vs. ETSU, Anderson went 8-of-9 from the field for 16 points. She has tallied double-figures four times this year.
CLIMBING TO THE CA-HILL TOP
Freshman Amanda Cahill has recorded two double-doubles this year and she did it in back-to-back games. Against Morehead State on Nov. 21, Cahill skied for 14 rebounds to go along with her 11 points and added two steals, two assists and two blocks. She followed that with 12 points and 10 boards vs. Incarnate Word on Nov. 23 with four assists and two steals. The Clyde, Ohio, native has scored in double-figures in four of IU’s five games so far this year. She is averaging 11.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.6 steals per game.
