OPENING TIP
• The 2014-15 college basketball season represents the 115th in the history of Indiana University. The Hoosiers will take on Northwood University out of Midland, Michigan, in the first of two exhibition games prior to the regular season opener against Mississippi Valley State on Nov. 14.
• Junior All-Big Ten performer Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell is one of the top point guards in the country and a candidate for the Bob Cousy Award. Ferrell was named the 17th best player in the country by ESPN this week. after averaging 17.3 points, 3.9 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game as a sophomore.
• IU brings in the top shooting recruiting class in the country highlighted by McDonald's All-American James Blackmon Jr. and Robert Johnson. Both are true freshman
• Junior Nick Zeisloft transferred to IU after playing the previous two years at Illinois State.
•Sophomore Collin Hartman who tore an ACL two days after the end of last season, has been cleared to play this season.
• Over the last three years, Indiana leads all Big Ten teams in scoring (76.2), field goal percentage (47.5), three-point field goal percentage (39.4), free throw percentage (74.6) and free throws made (1,903).
• The Hoosiers three-point field goal percentage is the highest among major college conference schools in that time frame.
HEAD COACH Tom Crean
• Indiana named Tom Crean as its 28th men's basketball coach on April 2, 2008, and he is in his seventh year with the Hoosiers. He is 291-193 all-time as a head coach and in the last three years, he has led IU to a 73-31 record, the 2013 Big Ten Championship and back-to-back appearances for the Hoosiers in the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 1994. In 2012-13, he was named NABC District 7 and USBWA District V Coach of the Year. In 2011-12, In the last two seasons, Crean has mentored three NBA Lottery picks which is tied with Kansas for the most among NCAA schools in that span.
• Crean is the only Big Ten coach to mentor an NBA lottery pick, a National Player of the Year, a first team All-American, a first team Academic All-American and a Senior Class Award winner this decade.
KNOW THIS
• IU was sixth in the country last year in rebound margin (+7.6) and 12th in the country in three-point field goal percentage defense.
BEST IN THE NATION
• IU is among the top academic programs in the country with four straight perfect APR scores of 1,000 and has received an NCAA Recognition Award each of the last two years. Twenty-one players have earned a degree while playing for Coach Tom Crean at Indiana, including five who have earned master's degrees. IU has been honored a league best 27 times on the Academic All-Big Ten team since 2010.

EIGHT IN THE PROS
• Crean has seen eight of his IU players play professional basketball. Victor Oladipo (Orlando), Cody Zeller (Charlotte), and Noah Vonleh (Charlotte) are playing in the NBA. Christian Watford is with the Celtics NBDL affiliate, the Maine Red Claws. Verdell Jones III (Japan), Jordan Hulls (Kosovo), Will Sheehey (Montenegro) and Derek Elston (Portugal) also are playing overseas.
STAFF WITH EXPERIENCE
• The Hoosiers have four former head coaches on their coaching staff this season.
• Associate Head Coach Tim Buckley begins his seventh year at Indiana. Former head coach at Ball State. His Cardinals beat #3 Kansas and #4 UCLA at the 2001 Maui Classic.
• Associate Head Coach Steve McClain is in his fifth year in Bloomington. Former head coach at Wyoming who led the Cowboys to the 2002 NCAA Tournament and a win over Gonzaga.
• Assistant Coach Chuck Martin joined the IU staff this past summer. Former head coach at Marist.
Director of Operations Rob Judson came to IU in mid-season a year ago. Former head coach at Northern Illinois, who captured a MAC West title.
NORTHWOOD
• The Timberwolves are part of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and were picked to finish fifth in the conference preseason poll announced earlier this month. Northwood placed two players on the All-GLIAC Preseason First Team in the North Division - senior center Will Bowles junior guard Maurice Jones.
• Northwood head coach Jeff Rekeweg is in his fifth season with the Timberwolves and has a 59-54 record at the school. He was the 2011-12 GLIAC Coach of the Year after guiding the team to the GLIAC North Division Title. Prior to Northwood, he served as the head coach at Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and won the NAIA national championship. Rekeweg graduated from Nebraska after completing his playing career (1986-88) with the Cornhuskers.
