ROSEMONT, Ill. -- The Big Ten Conference announced the Academic All-Big Ten honorees for the 2014 fall sports and the Indiana women's soccer team had 14 honorees, which was tied for fourth-most among Big Ten schools.
"Being a student-athlete at this caliber of an institution takes an incredible amount of dedication and commitment," Indiana head coach Amy Berbary said. "While this award is a tremendous personal achievement, the success is also a credit to our outstanding academic advisor, Eileen O'Rourke, and her undivided attention and commitment to pushing everyone within our program to their full potential."
To be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must be a letterwinner during the 2014 season and have at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA entering the Fall 2014 semester. They must also be in at least their second year at the institution.
Out of the 14 honorees for the Hoosiers, 10 are receiving the award for at least the second time, led by Rebecca Dreher and Bekah White who were recognized for the fourth time in their careers.
Tori Keller, Kristin Leist, Abby Smith, Jen Stanley and Jordan Woolums became three-time recipients while Jessie Bujouves, Rachel Romero and Sarah Stone are on the list for the second time.
First time winners include Marissa Borschke, Veronica Ellis, Katie Gruelich and Lauren Joray.
The Hoosiers trailed Michigan State (16), Minnesota (15) and Rutgers (15) on the list of most honorees.
During the 2013-14 academic year, the Hoosiers posted a team GPA of 3.42 and recently received the NSCAA Team Academic Award.
