Hoosiers Advance at USA Diving Nationals

Freshman Jessica Parratto is the top qualifier heading into Saturday's women's platform final with a score of 697.15 through the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds. That puts her 32.05 points ahead of Texas' Samantha Bromberg. Former IU All-American Amy Cozad has also moved on to the final round with a score of 649.55 good for fourth in the field.
In the women's platform prelims, Parratto led all competitors by scoring 338.5 points, while Cozad was sixth in the opening round (289.10).
In the men's 3-meter springboard prelims, former Indiana All-American Darian Schmidt heads into Saturday's final round in second place with a score of 877.80. Right behind him in third place is Hixon, with a score of 873.35.
Schmidt was tops in prelims with a score of 449.80, while Hixon was third with his tally of 427.55.
The event, which runs through Sunday, continues Friday with preliminary action in the men's platform and women's 3-meter events.
