Williams Picks Up National, Big Ten Honors

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana sophomore forward Troy Williams picked up a couple weekly honors on Monday after his strong performance on Saturday in the Hoosiers 82-73 win over No. 23 Butler at the Crossroads Classic.
Williams was named national player of the week by Andy Katz of ESPN.com and also garned Big Ten Co-Player of the Week, as announced by the Big Ten Conference office on Monday. It is the second Big Ten weekly honor in Williams' career, who was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on March 10, 2014. The last IU player to be named Player of the Week by the Big Ten was Will Sheehey on March 3, 2014.
Williams shares the Big Ten Player of the Week honors this week with Maryland's Jake Layman.
The Hampton, Virginia, native matched his career high with 22 points and also snared 11 rebounds on Saturday to help the Hoosiers pick up their second win over a Top 25 team this season (SMU).
