OPENING TIP
• The 2014-15 college basketball season represents the 115th in the history of Indiana University. The Hoosiers are coming off an 82-73 win over No. 23 Butler in the 2014 Crossroads Classic in Indianapolis. It was Tom Crean's 300th career victory as a head coach.

HEAD COACH Tom Crean
• Indiana named Tom Crean as its 28th men's basketball coach on April 2, 2008, and he is in his seventh year with the Hoosiers. He is 300-195 all-time as a head coach and in the last 3+ years, he has led IU to an 82-33 record, the 2013 Big Ten Championship and back-to-back appearances for the Hoosiers in the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 1994. In 2012-13, he was named NABC District 7 and USBWA District V Coach of the Year. In the last two seasons, Crean has mentored three NBA Lottery picks which is tied with Kansas for the most among NCAA schools in that span.

• Crean is the only Big Ten coach to mentor an NBA lottery pick, a National Player of the Year, a first team All-American, a first team Academic All-American and a Senior Class Award winner this decade.
• Since 2011-12, Indiana leads all major conference teams in field goal percentage (47.8), and three-point field goal percentage (39.8). IU is also 2nd in free throw percentage (74.5). The Hoosiers are fourth nationally in scoring (77.2), and second in free throws made (2,091).
• The Hoosiers 38.6 percent shooting from behind the 3-point line since the start of the 2010-11 season is the highest among major college conference schools in that time frame.
• With the win over No. 22 SMU and No. 23 Butler, IU leads Big Ten teams with 17 regular season wins over Top 25 teams since the start of the 2011-12 season. This year, IU has 2 of the Big Ten's 4 wins against nationally ranked squads.
IU INSIGHT
• Junior Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell became the 48th player in IU history to reach the 1,000 point mark in a career with his 20 second half points against Butler. He is the seventh recruit of Tom Crean's to join that club. He is 7th in the league in scoring (16.3), 4th in assists (5.2) and 8th in free throw percentage (86.0). Ferrell leads all Big Ten juniors in is scoring (1,003) and assists (329).
• Sophomore Troy Williams had one of the best games of his career matching his IU best 22 points with a career-high 11 rebounds against Butler. He also added 3 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals. He is 8th in the Big Ten in FG% at 56.6.
• James Blackmon, Jr. continues to lead all freshmen nationally in scoring at 17.9 points per game. He is 3rd in the Big Ten in scoring and 4th in free throw percentage (88.1).
• Junior Hanner Mosquera-Perea leads the Big Ten in field goal percentage shooting 68.0 from the field. He had 8 points, 9 boards and 4 blocks against Butler.
• In the Big Ten, the Hoosiers are first in scoring (87.0), 3FG% (42.4) and in three-point field goals made per game (9.3). IU is 2nd in field goal percentage (49.9), 6th in rebound margin (+4.2), and 7th in assist/turnover ratio (1.3).
THREE YEAR WIN TOTAL
• The Hoosiers 73 wins from 2011-12 to 2013-14 represents the highest three-year win total for IU since 1990-91 to 1992-93.
NUMBERS
• The Hoosiers are 4th in the country in scoring (87.0), 5th in 3FG percentage (42.4), 12th in overall FG percentage (49.9.) and 13th in effective field goal percentage.
GETTING BETTER
• In the last four games, IU is allowing opponents to shoot just 39.1 from the field and a league low 23.4 from three-point range during that span. The Hoosiers also have cut their turnovers to 11.9 after averaging 16.1 after 11 games a year ago. IU had just four turnovers against Grand Canyon and none in the second half.
WOODEN AND NAISMITH AWARDS
• The Los Angeles Athletic Club announced its Preseason Top 50 for the John R. Wooden Award and the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced their Top 50 Watch List for the Naismith Trophy and both lists include IU junior guard Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell. He is averaging 16.3 points and 5.72 assists and is shooting 44.4 percent from three-point range
TISDALE AWARD
• James Blackmon, Jr., and Robert Johnson have been named to the watch list for the Wayman Tisdale award, which is handed out by the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) to the top freshman in the country each season. Blackmon Jr., a native of Marion, Ind., has started all 11 games for the Hoosiers this season and is averaging 17.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per contest. He is also shooting 44.4 percent (28-of-63) Freshman Robert Johnson has also started all 11 games so far and is averaging 9.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. The Richmond, Va., native has made 48.1 percent of his shots from the floor and 41.9 from three-point range. He also leads the team with 13 steals.
ODDS AND TRENDS
• In the last two games, Grand Canyon and Butler combined to make just 5 of 32 three-point field goal attempts (15.6).
• Since the start of the 2011-12 season, the Hoosier have posted a 57-8 record in Assembly Hall, the fourth most wins at home in the country during that time frame.
• Junior Nick Zeisloft is averaging 7.7 points and is shooting 44.4 from three-point range. He has made 13 of his last 27 three-point attempts. He told media last week that he makes 300 three-pointers per day.
• Sophomore Collin Hartman had a career-high 8 points against Butler and had 3 rebounds and 2 assists. He has improved his scoring 4.2 points to 4.9 points per game and 3 rebounds to 3.8 per game. He is shooting 54.1 from the field He also leads the team with 23 offensive rebounds.
• Freshman Emmitt Holt is contributing 5.3 points and 3.1 rebounds while shooting 76.5 from the field. He also has made 73.3 of his free throws.
• Sophomore Stanford Robinson had 4 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals against Butler. He is third on the team with 17 assists.
• Freshman Max Hoetzel has made 5 of his last 7 three-point field goal attempts. He had 5 points against Butler and is now shooting 37.5 from long distance.
• The fewest number of three-pointers the team has made in a game this season was 7 against Eastern Washington. The Hoosiers made 7 or more three-pointers in just 8 games overall a season ago.
• With Yogi Ferrell joining the 1,000-point club a member of each recruiting class from 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 is now part of that group.
STAFF WITH EXPERIENCE
• The Hoosiers have four former head coaches on their coaching staff this season. Associate Head Coach Tim Buckley begins his seventh year at Indiana. Former head coach at Ball State. His Cardinals beat No. 3 Kansas and #4 UCLA at the 2001 Maui Classic. Associate Head Coach Steve McClain is in his fifth year in Bloomington. Former head coach at Wyoming who led the Cowboys to the 2002 NCAA Tournament and a win over Gonzaga. Assistant Coach Chuck Martin joined the IU staff this past summer. Former head coach at Marist. Director of Operations Rob Judson came to IU in mid-season a year ago. Former head coach at Northern Illinois, who captured a MAC West title.
