Scales An All-American, Five Freshmen Recognized

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Five Indiana football freshmen were recognized by various media outlets following the 2014 season, highlighted by true freshman linebacker Tegray Scales being named a 247Sports.com True Freshman All-American.
Scales appeared in all 12 games and led all IU freshmen with 46 tackles, 29 solo. He shared the team lead with three interceptions and added two sacks (11 yards) and 4.5 tackles for loss (14 yards).
The Cincinnati, Ohio, native also collected second team Scout.com Freshman All-America recognition and freshman All-Big Ten honors from BTN.com and 247Sports.com
True freshman wide receiver and kick returner J-Shun Harris II earned a spot on the 247Sports.com Big Ten All-Freshman team and honorable mention on the BTN.com All-Freshman team.
Harris made 18 receptions for 168 yards with two touchdowns and returned 19 kicks for 391 yards, a 20.6 average. He started six times and played in all 12 games.
A trio of redshirt freshmen secured BTN.com All-Freshman team honorable mention honors, including nose tackle Nate Hoff, safety Chase Dutra and kicker Griffin Oakes.
Hoff, a CollegeFootballNews.com Freshman All-America honorable mention recipient, made eight starts and appeared in all 12 games. He finished second on the Hoosiers with 3.5 sacks (18 yards) and 8.5 TFLs (30 yards) to go along with his 29 tackles.
Dutra matched Scales with his three interceptions and tied for third on the team with five PBUs. The Brownsburg, Ind., native tallied 35 tackles, 26 solo, with two tackles for loss and one forced fumble.
Oakes hit 13 of his 18 field goal attempts and did not miss an extra point in 23 chances. He made a trio of field goals three times and set the school record with a 58-yarder against Maryland, leading to Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week accolades.
