OPENING TIP
• The 2014-15 college basketball season represents the 115th in the history of Indiana University. The Hoosiers have a three-game winning streak and are coming off a 79-59 win at home against New Orleans. The last time IU and Georgetown played was two seasons ago in the Championship Game of the Progressive Classic in Brooklyn.

HEAD COACH Tom Crean
• Indiana named Tom Crean as its 28th men's basketball coach on April 2, 2008, and he is in his seventh year with the Hoosiers. He is 301-195 all-time as a head coach and in the last 3+ years, he has led IU to an 83-33 record, the 2013 Big Ten Championship and back-to-back appearances for the Hoosiers in the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 1994. In 2012-13, he was named NABC District 7 and USBWA District V Coach of the Year. In the last two seasons, Crean has mentored three NBA Lottery picks which is tied with Kansas for the most among NCAA schools in that span.
• Crean is the only Big Ten coach to mentor an NBA lottery pick, a National Player of the Year, a first team All-American, a first team Academic All-American and a Senior Class Award winner this decade.
• Since 2011-12, Indiana leads all major conference teams in field goal percentage (47.8), and three-point field goal percentage (39.7). IU is also 2nd in free throw percentage (74.3) and free throws made (2,105). The Hoosiers are 4th nationally in scoring (77.3).
• The Hoosiers 38.6 percent shooting from behind the 3-point line since the start of the 2010-11 season is the highest among major college conference schools in that time frame.
• With the win over No. 22 SMU and No. 23 Butler, IU leads Big Ten teams with 17 regular season wins over Top 25 teams since the start of the 2011-12 season. This year, IU has 2 of the Big Ten's 4 wins against nationally ranked squads.
IU INSIGHT
• Sophomore Troy Williams was named National Player of the Week by the USBWA and ESPN.com and was Co-Big Ten Player of the Week after he had one of the best games of his career matching his IU best 22 points with a career-high 11 rebounds against Butler. He also added 3 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals. He is 6th in the Big Ten in FG% at 58.0.
• Junior Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell is now 47th on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,020 points after his 17-point effort against New Orleans. He is 7th in the league in scoring (16.3), 5th in assists (5.1) and 3FG% (46.9) and 6th in FT% (86.9). Ferrell leads all Big Ten juniors in is scoring (1,020) and assists (329).
• James Blackmon, Jr. continues to lead all freshmen nationally in scoring at 17.6 points per game. He is 3rd in the Big Ten in scoring and 4th in FT percentage (88.4).
• Junior Hanner Mosquera-Perea is 2nd in the B1G in FG% at 67.9 and 9th in blocks at 1.7.
• In the Big Ten, the Hoosiers are 1st in scoring (86.3), and in three-point field goals made per game (9.0). IU is 2nd in field goal percentage (50.3)and 3FG% (41.7), 5th in 3FG% Defense (29.1), 6th in rebound margin (+4.2), and in assist/turnover ratio (1.3).
THREE YEAR WIN TOTAL
• The Hoosiers 73 wins from 2011-12 to 2013-14 represents the highest three-year win total for IU since 1990-91 to 1992-93.
NUMBERS
• The Hoosiers are 4th in the country in scoring (86.3), 5th in 3FG percentage (41.7), 11th in overall FG percentage (50.3.) and 12th in effective field goal percentage (57.8).
GETTING BETTER
• In the last five games, IU is allowing opponents to shoot just 39.2 from the field and a league low 21.1 from three-point range during that span. The Hoosiers also have cut their turnovers to 12.0 after averaging 16.0 after 12 games a year ago. IU had just four turnovers against Grand Canyon and none in the second half.
GAVITT TIPOFF GAMES
• The Big East -- the conference Dave Gavitt led to such success in so short a period -- and the Big Ten announced a series that will honor Gavitt's legacy. The eight-game series between the leagues will begin with the 2015-16 season and will be known as the Gavitt Tipoff Games. The four-day event will be held the first week of the regular season and will be played at home sites, four from each conference. The original deal is for eight years.

ODDS AND TRENDS
• IU has made at least 7 three-pointers in all 12 games this season. Last year, the Hoosiers made 7 three-pointers or more just 8 times in 32 games.
• In the last three games, New Orleans, Butler and Grand Canyon combined to make just 6-of-45 three-point field goal attempts (13.3).
• In the last four games, junior Hanner Mosquera-Perea is averaging 10.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.7 blocks while shooting 64.0 from the field .
HOOSIERS IN NYC
• Indiana has played 26 games in the NYC metro area since 1972 and has a 16-10 record. Twenty-two of those games came at Madison Square Garden. IU visited the Garden on December 9th to face Louisville in the Jimmy V Classic.
STAFF WITH EXPERIENCE
• The Hoosiers have four former head coaches on their coaching staff this season. Associate Head Coach Tim Buckley begins his seventh year at Indiana. Former head coach at Ball State. His Cardinals beat No. 3 Kansas and #4 UCLA at the 2001 Maui Classic. Associate Head Coach Steve McClain is in his fifth year in Bloomington. Former head coach at Wyoming who led the Cowboys to the 2002 NCAA Tournament and a win over Gonzaga. Assistant Coach Chuck Martin joined the IU staff this past summer. Former head coach at Marist. Director of Operations Rob Judson came to IU in mid-season a year ago. Former head coach at Northern Illinois, who captured a MAC West title.
