BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana baseball program completed its first-ever Omaha Challenge during the first week of December, splitting into two teams and competing in events each morning and afternoon.
"We're just trying to compete," first-year head coach Chris Lemonis said. "We're finishing the fall with a competitive segment and trying to do some different activities to work on team leadership, team building and some competitiveness."
The Red Team, also known as Team Toughy, led by its captains Scott Effross and Will Nolden won Indiana's inaugural Omaha Challenge, 3,650-3,605, over the Black Team (Team BrOmaha), captained by Brad Hartong and Luke Harrison.
Sophomore Craig Dedelow was the overall individual champion, while freshman Isaiah Pasteur won or was tied for the top performance in a team-high three events, including the broad jump in which he recorded a mark of 11'5".
The events were designed and determined by strength and conditioning coach Will Alli.
