Track & Field Adds 4 Olympians to Wall of Honor
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana track & field team will host its last of five home indoor meets at Gladstein Fieldhouse with the Hoosier Hills Invitational, Feb. 14-15.
Both field events and running events are scheduled to get underway on Friday Feb. 14 at 5:00 p.m. with the final event of the evening at 10:35 p.m. Competition will resume on Saturday Feb. 16 from 11:30 a.m. through 1:00 p.m.
With two weeks until the Big Ten Indoor Championships and a month until the NCAA Championships the Hoosiers will look to continue to improve on their times and marks going forward. Indiana currently has eight times and marks that are in the top-30 in the NCAA.
Most recently the Hoosiers competed at the Meyo Invitational on the campus of Notre Dame and had several encouraging performaces.
Freshman Tre'tez Kinnaird won his heat and finished with the fastest time in the 800m as he crossed the finish line in 1:49.49, the third best time in the Big Ten this season and second fastest time in school history for the indoor 800m. In the women's triple jump fellow freshman Danielle Quinn improved on her season-best mark in the event as she jumped 12.13m (39-9.75). She finished in ninth-place in the competition and her mark is the sixth best in school history.
Redshirt sophomore La Toya Williams ran a career-best in the 60m in a time of 7.63, the eighth fastest time in school history for the event.
Fans coming to Gladstein Fieldhouse this weekend will notice the addition of four Olympians to the Wall of Honor on the wall opposite the bleachers. The program has recognized the accomplishments of Indiana track & field alums Rose Richmond (2004-Athens), David Neville (2008-Beijing), Aarik Wilson (2008-Beijing) and Derek Drouin (2012-London) on the wall.
