MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Yogi Ferrell led the Hoosiers (14-9, 4-6) with 14 points and four assists, but it wasn't enough as Indiana fell at Minnesota, 66-60. It is the only regular season meeting for the two teams this season.
FreshmanNoah Vonleh had 12 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks, and Will Sheehey and Troy Williams each scored 11 points.
IU built a first half lead, by double digits at times, a product of effective attacking of the basket that got them to the free-throw line often. They made half of their eight 3-point attempts before the break, too, including a shot-clock beater by Ferrell as he fell down to put Indiana up 31-20.
"We still shot in the mid-40's, but if there was a difference it was turnovers in the second half and we had some awareness issues at the end of possessions," said IU Coach Tom Crean.
IU led 36-30 at halftime and built their largest lead of the second half at 48-40 with 13:56 to go on a Sheehey layup. IU also led 56-53 with 5:54 to go following a Sheehey triple and a layup by Vonleh, who had his Big Ten leading 10th double-double of the season.
Indiana will host Penn State on Wednesday and travel to rival Purdue on Saturday.
