BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – After dropping the doubles point, the No. 65 Indiana men’s tennis team rallied to win four consecutive singles matches to clinch a 4-3 victory over No. 62 Wisconsin at the IU Tennis Complex on Friday.
With the Hoosiers (11-11) and the Badgers (9-8) each winning a doubles match the point came down to No. 3 doubles, which Wisconsin won 8-5.
Indiana quickly got momentum back on their side as senior Dimitrije Tasic captured a 6-4, 6-2 victory to even the overall match at 1-1.
Sophomores Chris Essick and Michael Sellitto put the Hoosiers ahead 3-1 with straight set victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
After winning the first set 6-4, sophomore Daniel Bednarczyk dropped his second set 0-6 and trailed 0-2 in the third set. Bednarczyk rallied back and used the energy from his teammates success to win the third set and clinch his match and the overall match for the Hoosiers.
Up next Indiana will host conference foe Minnesota on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. and will welcome Vincennes for a 6:00 p.m. match.
