The quartet of James Wells, Cody Miller Max Irwin recorded a time of 1:26.11 in the 200 medley relay, finishing 17th and just 1/100th of a second out of the consolation final.
Steve Schmuhl went out and demolished his school record in the 400 individual medley by almost a second, qualifying fifth for tonight's championship final with a time of 3:41.24. That tops his previous mark of 3:41.98 set at last year's NCAA Championships and was more than two seconds faster than his seed time (3:43.55).
Miller made it back to tonight's championship final of the 100 breaststroke, placing seventh in prelims with a time of 52.42, just outside the all-time IU top five.
Wells will swim in the consolation final of the 100 backstroke tonight after finishing 10th in prelims with a time of 45.92. Eric Ress just missed out on a scoring opportunity, coming in 18th with a time of 46.41.
