BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The 2014 home opener is set for Wednesday (March 5) at 4:05 pm. #17 Indiana (4-5) plays host to the Xavier Musketeers (5-3) in what has become an annual meeting between the two schools seperated by just two hours.
Fans can present their game ticket to the men's basketball game versus Nebraska Wednesday evening and receive free admission for the baseball game.
Indiana will send Cincinnati native Kyle Hart to the bump while the Cincinnati-based Musketeers hand the ball to Eric Stiene for his first start of the season. Hart started the first two weeekends and pitched the ninth in IU's 8-3 win over Toledo last Saturday. Meanwhile, Stiene has hurled six frames of scoreless relief, holding the opposition to a .158 batting average against.
IU head coach Tracy Smith and XU skipper Scott Googins have a long relationship dating back to their days as Hoosier assistant coaches, including the 1996 Big Ten Tournament title season. Googins played an intergral role in the success of Miami (OH) during the Coach Smith Era, serving as an assistant coach for the RedHawks.

Redshirt junior Tim O'Conner is going to recognize a few people on the other side of the diamond during Wednesday's home opener versus Xavier. His older brother, Billy, is a Musketeer assistant coach and infielder Selby Chidemo is a former high school teammate of O'Conner and Brian Korte's at Elder High School in Cincinnati, Ohio.
BIG TEN PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Junior C/OF Kyle Schwarber earned Indiana's second Big Ten weekly accolade of the season, named Big Ten co-Player of the Week on March 3 after a nonconference split doubleheader sweep over #9 Louisville and Toledo. Joey DeNato was the B1G Pitcher of the Week back on Feb. 18. It marks the second career B1G Player of the Week laurel for Schwarber.
Schwarber had himself a day, reaching base seven times in 12 plate appearances, including a 5-for-5 game against #9 Louisville. In total, the junior accounted for eight runs, scoring five and driving in three
