ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The ball was moving all over the pool as 15 assists on 16 goals lead 12 different Hoosiers to score at least one goal in No. 14 Indiana's 16-3 defeat of Notre Dame College. The Hoosiers have now improved their record to 17-5 on the season with a perfect 10-0 conference record.
Freshman Ellie Stott got the nod to start at center after being an honorable mention for the Rookie of the Week award from the CWPA this past week. Stott scored the first goal of the match off the assist from teammate Colleen McNaught.
McNaught, who has now moved into sixth on IU's all-time assist list, dropped another dime to Shelby Taylor who made the score 2-0 early in the first quarter. Colleen now has 127 assists for her career, passing Deb Simone who is now seventh with 125 helpers.
Senior Meghan Lappan stole the ball and got it to team-leading scorer Shae Fournier who tossed in a skip-shot. Goals from Alexis Jones, Summer Creighton, and Amanda Redfern gave Indiana a 6-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Sophomore goalkeeper Mary Campbell took over for starter Jessica Gaudreault in the cage at the start of the second period. Campbell finished with nine saves and a steal on 20 Falcon shot attempts.
Center Hallie Lindsey scored her first of two goals to score the only Hoosier goal in the second half, and IU went into halftime with a 7-0 advantage.
Junior Shelley St. Omer Roy set a new career-high with three assists on the second half, two coming off Lindsey goals, the other off a long shot from Devon Peterson. The Hoosiers added five points in the third quarter, and four in the fourth to finish the game with a 16-3 victory.
