Hoosiers Host Billy Hayes Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – After traveling for much of the outdoor season, the Hoosiers host their final home meet of the season with the Billy Hayes Invitational on Saturday, with events starting at 11:00 a.m.
This will also serve as the final tune-up before the Big Ten Outdoor Championships in West Lafayette, Ind., May 16-18.
On Friday the Hoosiers play host to the first stop on the American Track League circuit. This professional track & field meet will feature Olympian Lolo Jones, Olympic Silver Medalist Lashina Demus and Olympic Bronze Medalist DeeDee Trotter. Several IU alums will also compete including: Molly Beckwith, Andy Bayer, Kind Butler, De’Sean Turner and Danny Stockberger.
The Hoosiers last competed at the 120th Penn Relays in Philadelphia April 24-26. Nakel McClinton won the college discus throw with a personal best of 50.42m and Sydney Clute won the college pole vault with a meet record 4.08m. In the championship division of the pole vault senior Kelsie Ahbe finished in second-place with a clearance of 4.30m.
The Hoosier team of sophomore Jordan Gornall (2:57.99, 1200m), senior Derrick Morgan (47.17, 400m), freshman Tre’Tez Kinnaird (1:48.28, 800m) and Hunter (4:01.15, 1600m) finished in 9:34.60 in the distance medley relay, the sixth fastest time in school history.
Freshman Jason Crist, junior Nolan Fife, freshman Matt Schwartzer and sophomore Owen Skeete finished eighth in the 4XMile Championship of America. Skeete anchored the team across the line in 16:27.55. In the 4X800-meter Championship of America the Hoosiers finished eighth in 7:26.25. Freshman Tre’Tez Kinnaird ran the fastest leg of the relay in 1:48.65.
