IOWA CITY, Iowa - The No. 69 Indiana men's tennis team won on the road at Iowa, 4-3, on Sunday.
In the doubles portion of the match the Hoosiers (13-13) and Hawkeyes (9-8) split at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles and the point came down to No. 3 doubles. The Hoosier duo of Chris Essick and Stefan Lugonjic won their match and clinched the point for Indiana in a tiebreak, 8-7 (7-3).
Sophomores Daniel Bednarczyk and Sam Monette won their doubles match and each gave the Hoosiers a point as they claimed victories in their singles matches.
Iowa gained some momentum with a win at No. 6 singles, but senior Dimitrije Tasic countered as he clinched the match for the Hoosiers with a 6-1, 7-6 (10-8) win at No. 4 singles.
Up next the Hoosiers will play Purdue at Wednesday, April 9 at 1:00 p.m.
