Buckley Named Big Ten Athlete of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Senior Kyla Buckley picked up where she left off in the indoor season with a big throw in the shot put to win the Crimson Tide Invitational and earn Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced today.

Buckley, the indoor Big Ten Champion in the shot put and Second Team All-American at this year’s NCAA Indoor Championships won the meet with a throw of 17.08m (56-0.5).

The throw for Buckley is the best in the Big Ten this outdoor season and second best in the NCAA.

Buckley and the Hoosiers will travel to Louisville, Ky., this weekend for the Border Battle meet on April 12. The meet will feature Louisville, Notre Dame, Purdue and Indiana.
