Noah Vonleh NBA TV Interview With Seth Davis and Steve Smith
On what made him want to declare for the NBA draft:
"It has always been a dream of mine to play in the NBA. The opportunity was there and I said why not take it. I sat down with my family and my mentor and discussed it, and we decide at the end of the day that it was the best decision."
On if he was surprised he would have the chance and the opportunity:
"I knew it was going to be sometime quick after one or two years. I went in the gym everyday and worked hard and now I have this opportunity in front of me.
On what skill will translate from college to the NBA as one of your strengths:
"I think rebounding is a skill that will make me able to play right away. I'm a great rebounder and versatile. I can handle the ball and create for others."
On how he think he will handle the transition and everything that comes with being a professional athlete:
"It is going to be tough. I'm 18-years-old. I'm going to need a lot of help. Hopefully some of the older guys on the team can take me under their wing and show me the ropes of the NBA and go from there."
Do you think being able to face up will help you at the next level:
"I definitely see that as an advantage. I can step out and take a guy off the dribble or shoot from the perimeter. If I have a smaller guy on me I can post him up and score around the basket."
On developing a work ethic playing under head coach Tom Crean:
"Coach Crean is a great coach and pushes his guys past their limits to make you better. I will definitely be prepared for whatever any team in the NBA throws at me."
On leaving family vacation at Disneyland to play basketball at local YMCA:
"I went to the park and went on a couple of rides with them, but I felt like I needed to get in the gym because I had a couple of AAU tournaments for the live period coming up the next week so I wanted to be ready."
On where that drive comes from:
"I think I got that hard work from my mother, because she works two jobs and tries to provide for me and my sisters. I think I look at her and that is where I get my work ethic from."
On what the most important thing he learned in the one year in Bloomington:
"I learned a lot on the basketball court with Coach Crean, learning how to play in NBA offenses. I also learned about how to be a leader on the court."
