Ahbe Named Big Ten Athlete of the Week

Ahbe's mark is the sixth best in the NCAA this season.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Senior Kelsie Ahbe continued to excel in competition as she won the pole vault competition at the Billy Hayes Invitational and has been named the Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced today.

Ahbe, the Big Ten Indoor Champion in the pole vault cleared a career-best height of 4.35m (14-3), the second best mark in school history and just one centimeter from tying the Indiana school record. Her mark is the sixth best in the NCAA this season.

This is the second Big Ten Athlete of the Week honor for Ahbe, who holds the indoor school record in the pole vault, which she set in 2012 at 4.21m.

Ahbe and the Hoosiers will travel to West Lafayette, Ind., May 16-18 for the Big Ten Outdoor Championships.
