Nearly 100 Indiana University student-athletes spent three hours Monday night at Camp Riley at Bradford Woods, participating in activities with campers who have disabilities ranging from cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy to spina bifida and missing limbs.
Since being established in 1955 by Indiana University and the Riley Children's Foundation, Camp Riley has hosted more than 13,000 Hoosier children.
IU athletes from the football, men's and women's basketball teams, men's and women's swimming teams and men and women's soccer teams -- not to mention field hockey, volleyball, track and rowing teams -- joined the campers playing games such as horseshoes, adaptive bike riding, badminton and wheelchair basketball.
Riley Children's Foundation depends on contributions from individuals, businesses and organizations -- in addition to fees paid by campers' families based on a sliding scale determined by household income. For more information or to make a donation, visit www.RileyKids.org.
