Lugonjic Wins ITA Summer Circuit Tournament

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – It wasn’t easy, but Indiana men’s tennis sophomore Stefan Lugonjic battled and kept fighting all the way to a singles title at the ITA Summer Circuit Midwest Tournament in Bloomington.
In the semifinal Lugonjic had to go up against teammate Elliott Yee. Lugonjic won the first set 6-3, but Yee responded with a 6-4 win in set two. The teammates played a 10 point third set that Lugonjic won 10-7.
Lugonjic was paired against Jack Joyce of Southern Indiana in the final. Lugonjic found himself in a 1-0 hole after dropping the first set 5-7, but came back to win the next set 7-6 to force a third set in which he won 10-6.
Up next the Hoosiers will host the ITA National Championships, Aug. 9-12 in Bloomington.
