Volleyball Set for Midweek Matchup with IUPUI

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana volleyball team will play four matches this week before opening up Big Ten play the following week, starting with a match at IUPUI on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
After splitting matches in Chicago last week, the Hoosiers are 7-1 on the season and will face an IUPUI team that has posted a 4-7 mark. IU holds a 4-0 record against IUPUI in the all-time series, with the last meeting taking place on Sept. 1, 2004, a match the Hoosiers won, 3-1.
IUPUI is marketing the match as a “Pack The House” Night, in an attempt to set an attendance record, that was originally set when the two teams played in 2004.
UPCOMING TOURNAMENT IN BLOOMINGTON
The IU volleyball team will host the Hoosier Classic, Sept. 19-20 in Bloomington. On Friday the Hoosiers will play Buffalo at 7:00 p.m. and than on Saturday they will matchup against Western Illinois (12:00 p.m.) and Butler (7:00 p.m.)
FRIDAY MATCH ON BTN PLUS

HOOSIERS IN THE NCAA/BIG TEN RANKINGS
Sophomore Megan Tallman ranks fourth in the NCAA and first in the Big Ten in assists/set at 12.03. Fellow sophomore Taylor Lebo is 10th in the NCAA and second in the Big Ten in service aces. Junior Courtney Harnish 30th in the NCAA and second in the Big Ten in digs.

40TH SEASON OF IU VOLLEYBALL
This year is a special one, as the team will celebrate the 40th season of Indiana Volleyball. On Oct. 11th there will be a special alumni banquet leading up to the Hoosiers home match against Purdue.

In addition to special features and Q and A’s with coaches and student-athletes there will be two regular shows all season long. The first is Inside IU Volleyball with head coach Sherry Dunbar-Kruzan. Hosted by the voice of IU Volleyball, Sean Nash this show will recap past matches, preview upcoming matches and add special features as well. Also sophomore Jazzmine McDonald will have a weekly video blog called “Smooth Jazz”, where she gives an inside look into the program from the perspective of a student-athlete.
