Bednarczyk, Essick Claim Doubles Title at Hoosier Classic

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Juniors Daniel Bednarczyk and Chris Essick highlighted the Hoosier Classic for the Indiana men’s tennis team as the duo won the doubles title at the Hoosiers first fall tournament of 2014 Sunday at the IU Tennis Center.
Bednarczyk and Essick won the doubles title with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 victory over Gerard Guell and Martin Muadi from IPFW.
Junior Elliott Yee and sophomore Matthew McCoy both played well in singles as both players advanced to the semifinals. Yee fell to Carsten Fischer of Dayton, 6-0, 6-4, while McCoy fell to Jeffrey Brown of Louisville, 7-6, 6-4.
Up next for the Hoosiers, junior Sam Monette will compete in the ITA All-American Tournament, starting Sept. 27 and members of the team will travel to Georgia Tech for a tournament the same weekend.
