Field Hockey to Open B1G Play This Weekend

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - No. 17 Indiana will open up Big Ten play this weekend as the Hoosiers will travel to No. 8 Iowa and No. 13 Northwestern. Indiana is looking to build off its record-setting 7-0 start.
LAST TIME OUT
The Hoosiers extended their winning streak to seven games with a 1-0 shutout at Ohio. Junior Nicole Volgraf found the back of the net in the 45th minute to lead Indiana to the win. Maggie Olson and the Hoosiers picked up their third straight shutout and fourth on the season. Olson recorded five saves in the win.
EYE ON THE HAWKS
Iowa is off to hot start at 5-2, with the only losses on the season coming against #2 North Carolina and #8 Stanford. The Hawkeyes have been led in scoring by Natalie Cafone, who has recorded 11 goals on the year.
This is the 18th matchup in history between Indiana and Iowa, with the Hawkeyes holding the 4-13 advantage. The last time these teams squared off, Iowa came away with the 5-1 victory last season.
WATCHING THE WILDCATS
Northwestern has starts its season at 6-3, including a recent win vs. No. 2 Maryland. Isabel Flen has set the pace for the Wildcats as she leads the team with seven goals on the year. The Hoosiers and Wildcats will face off for the 19th time in program history. Northwestern currently leads the series 9-8 after picking up the 2-0 victory last season.

Indiana's contest against Iowa on Friday will be featured on the Big Ten Network live at 3:30 p.m.
BROKEN RECORD
The Hoosiers continued their record-setting start to the season with the win against Ohio. The 7-0 start by the Hoosiers is an Indiana program record. Indiana has started off the season 4-0 on three different occasions: 2012, 2011 and 2003.
HOOSIERS IN THE RANKINGS
For the seconds straight week, Indiana was ranked No. 17 in the latest Penn Monto / NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll. Last week was the first time since Sept. 18, 2012 the Hoosiers have been ranked, and the highest ranking since coming in at No. 15 in 2011. In the first NCAA Division I RPI Poll of the year, the Hoosiers were ranked No. 20.
ON A NATIONAL SCALE
Indiana is one of only three unbeaten teams left in the nation. The Hoosiers also sit near the top of numerous statistical categories, including third in scoring margin (2.57) and shutout average (0.57), as well as second in goals against average (0.57) and save percentage (0.895).
Maggie Olson is second in the country in save percentage (0.871) and third in goals against average (0.62).
B1G LEADERS
The Hoosiers currently lead the Big Ten in scoring margin (2.57) . On the defensive side, Indiana also leads in shutouts (4) and goals against average (0.57). Audra Heilman leads the conference in game-winning goals (3). Junior Sydney Supica leads the Big Ten in defensive saves (4). Maggie Olson is first in the conference in save percentage (0.875) and goals against average (0.62).
HEILMAN AND OLSON CLIMB THE RECORD BOOK
With 9 goals thus far on the season, Audra Heilman now sits in third place in all-time career goals with 28. Goalkeeper Maggie Olson now ranks second all-time in career shutouts with seven. She also ranks second all-time in career victories with 23.
SIX PICK UP STICKS
Six new Hoosiers will make their home debut on Friday, Freshmen Glenne Carter (California), Cameron Gibson (Virginia), Maddie Latino (Kentucky), Marcia Lewis (California), Taylor Pearson (Canada) and Abby Urbanek (Illinois) are suiting up for the Hoosiers this fall.
OF NOTE...
-Four seniors are playing in their final season for the Cream and Crimson - Caitlin Bearish, Audra Heilman, Corinne Karch and Maggie Olson.
-Audra Heilman, Maggie Olson and Sydney Supica were named to the 2014 Big Ten Players to Watch List.
-The returning members of this season's squad accounted for 100 of the 138 points and 35 of the 49 goals last season.
-In the fourth 2014 Penn Monto/NFHCA Poll of the season, eight opponents of the Hoosiers in 2014 are ranked, including six other Big Ten programs.
