DEFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: Tim Bennett and Darius Latham
Senior cornerback Tim Bennett and defensive tackle Darius Latham were named IU's defensive players of the week. Bennett, who led Indiana vs. Maryland with seven tackles, matched his career high with two tackles for loss and added a pass breakup. He leads IU with six pass breakups and is third on the team with 23 total stops. Latham started for the second consecutive game, tying for third on the team with a season-high four tackles, including one for loss.
Bennett was IU's defensive player of the week vs. Navy last season and the Hoosiers' special teams player of the week vs. Ball State in 2012. This marks Latham's first such honor.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Griffin Oakes and Erich Toth
For the second consecutive week, head coach Kevin Wilson named redshirt junior punter Erich Toth and freshman kicker Griffin Oakes Indiana's special teams players of the week. Oakes, also the Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week, nailed the first three field goal attempts of his career (38, 48, 58) vs. Maryland. His 58-yarder as time expired in the first half was the longest in IU history and the 10th-longest in Big Ten history.
Toth, who also earned the honor in week one, punted four times (45.5 yards per punt) and pinned Maryland inside its 20-yard line once. His 50-yard punt was his second-longest of the season and the 10th punt of his career of 50 yards or more.
SCOUT TEAM PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: Wes Martin and Noel Padmore
Freshman offensive lineman Wes Martin and redshirt freshman cornerback Noel Padmore were Indiana's scout team players of the week, the first recognition for each in their Hoosier careers.
