“I think they’re working together really well and I think that tends to result in goals being spread across multiple players,” said Indiana head coach Amy Robertson. “You want them to take shots but they also recognize when someone has an open goal. Everyone’s willing to play the role they need to play and it’s a lot more fun when everyone is scoring.”
Rachel Stauffer started the scoring early for the Hoosiers with her second goal of the season off an assist from Morgan Dye at 2:02 mark.
Four minutes later, Sydney Supica found the back of the cage off of a penalty corner. Brigitta Haller and Rachel Stauffer recorded an assist on the play.
UC Davis’ Stephie Sabraw would answer with the Aggies’ (1-3) lone goal of the contest with 10 minutes left in the half.
After recording her first career goal during Indiana’s 4-1 victory against California on Friday, Kate Barber found the back of the cage again for the Hoosiers to open up the second period. Nicole Volgraf and Audra Heilman also added a goal to give the Hoosiers the 5-1 victory. Heilman’s seven goals on the season leads the Big Ten.
On the defensive end, goalkeeper Maggie Olson continued her hot streak. She allowed just one goal and recorded 11 saves in Sunday’s victory – which ties her career high set in 2013 against Louisville. Olson has allowed just a total of four goals in Indiana’s four games this season.
The Hoosiers will travel to Miami (Ohio) on Sept. 14 to face off against the RedHawks at 2 p.m.
