Swim and Dive Faces Wisconsin, Notre Dame

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- After a month layoff from competition the Indiana men's and women's swimming and diving team are back in action this weekend, facing Wisconsin and Notre Dame in a two-day dual meet, Jan. 16-17 in Madison, Wis.
The 16-event meet will be split over two days, starting at 6 p.m. ET on January 16. Action at the UW Natatorium continues on Saturday, January 17 at 11 a.m. ET.
Indiana's last outing was the 2014 USA Swimming Winter Nationals in December. Junior Brooklynn Snodgrass took home gold in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke, as well as the 800 free relay alongside junior Haley Lips, senior Cynthia Pammett and freshman Kennedy Goss.
Goss was also an individual medalist with a silver in the 200 freestyle and a bronze in the 500 freestyle. Freshman Grace Vertigans, Goss, Snodgrass and Lips took silver in the 400 freestyle.
Snodgrass' 100 backstroke time of 51.59 currently ranks fourth in the NCAA, while she is also fourth in the 200 back (1:51.22). Goss is currently seventh in the 200 back (1:52.41). That is in addition to Goss' rank of 11th in the 200 free (1:44.87), with Lips 12th (1:45.05). Goss also ranks seventh in the 500 free (4:38.35) and Lips 12th (4:39.98).
In women's diving freshman Jessica Parratto is coming off a successful Nationals, winning gold on the platform and a silver in the synchro 3-meter event. She ended the meet with another gold, this one coming in the synchro platform competition.
On the men's side sophomore Anze Tavcar took home a silver medal at the USA Swimming Winter Nationals, winning it in the 100 freestyle with a time of 43.03, a new school record. Freshman Blake Pieroni was fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:34.55), while sophomore Jackson Miller was seventh in the 500 free (4:19.48).
Junior Tanner Kurz placed 10th in the 200 breaststroke at nationals (1:57.29), while Pieroni, Miller Tavcar and sophomore Max Irwin took bronze in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 6:24.90.
In the diving well, freshman James Connor returned to his native Australia in December to compete at nationals, winning gold on the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard, and silver on the platform. At USA Diving's winter nationals, sophomore Michael Hixon earned a silver medal on the 1-meter, as well as a spot on the 2015 World Championships team. He added a bronze medal in the 3-meter springboard competition.
This meet kicks off three-straight weekends of swimming for the Hoosiers. Both squads will face in-state rival Purdue on Saturday, January 24 in West Lafayette (11 a.m. ET). On Friday, January 30, the IU women will celebrate senior day against Louisville in Bloomington (5 p.m. ET), while on January 31 the men will face Louisville and Ohio State in Columbus (1 p.m. ET).
