OPENING TIP
• The 2014-15 college basketball season represents the 115th in the history of Indiana University. The Hoosiers will host No. 13/8 Maryland for the first time as a member of the Big Ten Conference.

COACH CREAN
• Indiana named Tom Crean as its 28th men's basketball coach on April 2, 2008, and he is in his seventh year with the Hoosiers. He is 305-197 all-time as a head coach and in the last 3+ years, he has led IU to an 86-35 record, the 2013 Big Ten Championship and back-to-back appearances (12 and 13) for the Hoosiers in the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1994. In 2012-13, he was named NABC District 7 and USBWA District V Coach of the Year. In the last two seasons, Crean has mentored three NBA Lottery picks which is tied with Kansas for the most among NCAA schools.
• Crean is the only Big Ten coach to mentor an NBA lottery pick, a National Player of the Year, a first team All-American, a first team Academic All-American and a Senior Class Award winner this decade.
• Since 2011-12, IU leads all major conference teams three-point field goal percentage (39.3) field goal percentage (47.5) and in free throw percentage (74.3). They are 2nd in free throws made (2,194). The Hoosiers are 4th nationally in scoring (77.0) over the last 3+ seasons.
• The Hoosiers 38.4 percent shooting from behind the 3-point line since the start of the 2010-11 season also is highest among major college conference schools in that time frame.
• With wins over No. 22 Ohio State, No. 22 SMU and No. 23 Butler, IU leads Big Ten teams with 18 regular season wins over Top 25 teams since the start of the 2011-12 season. This year, IU had two of the Big Ten's 4 wins against nationally ranked squads in non-conference play.
BEING RANKED
• IU enters the national rankings for the first time during the 2014-15 season at No. 23 in the USA Today Coaches Poll and the Associated Press Poll..
• The Hoosiers are ranked by the coaches for the first time since December 2, 2013, and by the AP for the first time since the conclusion of the 2012-13 season.
• This is the 534th week since the AP poll began in 1947-48 that IU will be a nationally ranked squad. The Hoosiers rank 8th all-time in that list and 6th all-time in the top five (178), and top 10 (277). All three marks are the best among Big Ten programs.
• Every four-year player since the poll began has played for a nationally ranked squad at IU. The Hoosiers are tied for 5th in the country with 3 wins against Top 25 teams this season.
DID YOU KNOW
• Junior Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell has a school-record 49-game streak of making at least one 3-point field goal. That is the second-longest active streak in the nation.
IU INSIGHT
• The Hoosiers are 60-8 in Assembly Hall since the 2011-12 season, the second-most wins among Big Ten teams at their home facility behind Ohio State (64).
• Sophomore Troy Williams has averaged 17.0 points and 8.3 rebounds while shooting 60.0 from the field in the last three games. He had 21 points and 9 boards at Illinois and is 5th in the B1G in shooting at 58.5 percent.
• James Blackmon, Jr. is second in scoring among all B1G freshmen at 16.6 points per game. He also had 21 points at Illinois, and is averaging 16.7 points and 6.7 rebounds in the last 3 games.
• Junior Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell is 44th on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,093 points. He leads all Big Ten juniors in career scoring, assists (362), 3-point field goals made (146) and free throw percentage (83.2). He is 1st in the league in free throw percentage (88.3), and is 10th in the league in scoring (14.9) and 5th in assists (5.0). He has 28 assists and 9 turnovers in the last five games. He had 9 assists and 1 turnover at Illinois.
• Freshman Robert Johnson had 20 points and made 4-of-6 from long distance in the win over Penn State. He is 4th on the team with 26 three-point field goals made. He led the Hoosiers with 14 points against Nebraska.
ODDS AND TRENDS
• The Hoosiers have made 88 of 108 free throws (81.5) in the last five minutes of games this season.
• Bennie Seltzer, who served as an assistant coach at Indiana from 2008-12, has rejoined the program as Director of Player Performance for a temporary period of four months as a replacement to Je'Ney Jackson, who managed player development and strength and conditioning for the men's basketball program.
• Forward Hanner Mosquera-Perea, who had started the first 16 games for the Hoosiers this season, suffered an injury to his right knee in practice on Jan. 12 and will be out indefinitely.
• Sophomore Collin Hartman, who returned 6 months after tearing an ACL, has started the last two games. He is shooting 50.9 percent from the field and 44.4 from three-point range.
• With 12 seconds left in regulation against Georgetown junior Yogi Ferrell, hit a game tying three-pointer that sent the game to overtime against the Hoyas. It was the second time in his career that he hit a tying shot to force overtime. He also did that against Butler at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in December 2012. Easily the team's best defender, his steal and assist with 1:13 left against Illinois led IU to the comeback win.
• Freshman reserve Emmitt Holt is averaging 4.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in conference play.
• Freshman reserve Max Hoetzel had 6 points, including a three-pointer against Illinois.
• Junior transfer Nick Zeisloft scored 10 points and started the winning run at Illinois with a three-pointer with under 3 minutes to go. He is third on the team with 32 3FGM.
• Sophomore Stanford Robinson had a season-high 12 points against Penn State and made all 6 of his free throw attempts in the game.
• Junior walk-on Ryan Burton played a huge role in the win over Penn State. In five minutes of play, he had three offensive rebounds and an assist to help IU go from a 51-51 tied to a 12-point lead.

STAFF WITH EXPERIENCE
• The Hoosiers have five former head coaches on their staff this season. Associate Head Coach Tim Buckley begins his seventh year at Indiana. Former head coach at Ball State. His Cardinals beat No. 3 Kansas and #4 UCLA at the 2001 Maui Classic. Associate Head Coach Steve McClain is in his fifth year in Bloomington. Former head coach at Wyoming who led the Cowboys to the 2002 NCAA Tournament and a win over Gonzaga. Assistant Coach Chuck Martin joined the IU staff this past summer. Former head coach at Marist. Director of Operations Rob Judson came to IU in mid-season a year ago. He is a former head coach at Northern Illinois, who captured a MAC West title. Director of Player Performance Bennie Seltzer also was the head coach at Samford.
