Hoosiers Welcome Competitive Field for Indiana Relays

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana track and field team will host its third consecutive meet at Gladstein Fieldhouse, with the Indiana Relays, Jan. 30-31.
Friday’s action will start at 3:00 p.m. ET with the women’s weight throw and events on the track are set to begin at 3:30 p.m. ET with the 60m hurdles.
Invitational sections of the mile, 600m, 200m and 3000m will highlight the first day of competition starting at 7:05 p.m. ET. On Saturday invitational sections of the field events will be contested, starting at 10:30 a.m. with the women’s weight throw. On the track invitational sections of the 400m, 800m and 5,000m runs will be contested starting at 1:45 p.m. ET with the first track event of the day at 10:50 a.m. with the men’s 60m dash.
Junior Dylan Anderson highlighted a strong performance from the Hoosiers in the Gladstein Invitational last weekend. Anderson recorded the second best point total in school history to win the heptathlon competition with 5,561 points. That total is the best in the Big Ten and currently fourth best in the NCAA. His teammate Stephen Keller finished second in the heptathlon with 5,437 points, fourth best in IU school history and seventh best in the NCAA.
Sophomore Tretez won the 600m invitational section in 1:18.79 and freshman Daniel Kuhn was second in the 800m invitational in 1:51.66, the fourth best time in the Big Ten this season. Sophomore Paul Galas won the high jump with a clearance of 2.11m. His mark is tied for second in the Big Ten this season.
Freshman Jill Whitman continued to improve as she crossed the finish line first in the 3,000m run invitational section in a personal best time of 9:33.08. In the same race sophomore Amanda Behnke finished fourth in 9:40.71.
Another freshman, Andrew Miller continued to move his way up on the IU record books. Miller finished second in the weight throw, with a mark of 19.80m, which is now the fourth best mark in IU school history. His teammate Dyrek Chowning finished third with a mark of 19.70m, good for fifth best in program history. Sophomore Adrian Mable finished fourth in the prelims of the 60m hurdles in 8.08, which is tied for the fifth fastest time in school history for the event.
Keep in mind that parking will be limited on Saturday with a men’s basketball game at 3:15 p.m.
