Ferrell, Blackmon, Jr., Named Preseason All-Big Ten

Rosemont, Ill. – Senior guard Kevin Yogi Ferrell and sophomore guard James Blackmon Jr., have been named to the 2015-16 Preseason All-Big Ten team, the conference announced this afternoon. Ten players representing seven schools were chosen by a panel of media.
Maryland's Melo Trimble was named Preseason Player of the Year. He was joined on the squad by Michigan State's Denzel Valentine, Purdue's A.J. Hammons and Wisconsin's Nigel Hayes, Iowa's Jarrod Uthoff, Maryland's Jake Layman, Michigan's Caris LeVert and Wisconsin's Bronson Koenig also earned preseason All-Big Ten plaudits.
Ferrell is a preseason All-American and first-team All-Big Ten choice that averaged 16.3 points and 4.9 assists as a junior. He also has made a three-point field goal in a national-best 65 straight games. CBS Sports.com ranked him as the 20th best player in the country. He is the leading active scorer in the league with 1,379 points.
Blackmon also earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors last season. He averaged 15.7 points and 5.3 rebounds and shot 80.6 from the line and made 2.3 three-point field goals per game. He was rated as the 44th best player this season by CBS Sports.com.
