IU Wraps Up Day One of June Stewart Invite

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Indiana women's tennis team wrapped day one of the June Stewart Invitational at Vanderbilt on Friday with a pair of doubles victories and a singles win.

Paula Gutierrez defeated Mississippi's Arianne Hartono, who is ranked as the No. 57 singles player in the country, in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. The win gave Gutierrez her fourth singles victory in as many tries so far this fall.

In doubles, Gutierrez teamed with freshman Danielle Wolf to down the Vanderbilt duo of Maggie Leavell and Summer Dvorak, 6-3. Another IU doubles win was earned by Kim Schmider and Sarah Baron as they defeated Vandy's Sydney Campbell and Fernanda Contreras.

Play will resume on Saturday morning in Nashville at 9:30 a.m. ET.
