BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Mel Daniels, a 2012 inductee to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and a Indiana Pacers legend, passed away on Friday at the age of 71. Below are comments from Indiana University men's basketball coach Tom Crean on Daniels' passing.
"Mel Daniels always treated me with a kindness and genuine care and respect. He brought a real encouragement to me and to others I would see him interact with. He loved the game and helped those that loved it like he did. Any visit with him was memorable. Our deepest regrets go out to his family and the entire Pacer family."
