BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana softball team swept Sunday's fall doubleheader against the University of Indianapolis, 8-4 and 10-3. The day saw 13 different Hoosiers score a run while the pitchers put together impressive outings in the circle. In addition, senior Shannon Cawley knocked a pair of homers, including a grand slam in game two.
In game one, junior Erin Lehman went 2-for-3 at the plate with three runs scored and an RBI. Lehman first scored in the bottom of the third on a RBI double by senior Kelsey Dotson to give the Hoosiers a 1-0 lead.
After the Greyhounds put up a pair of runs in the top of the fourth frame, Lehman was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to tie the game. Senior Michelle Huber then gave back the Hoosiers the lead for good on a bases-clearing double to make it 5-2. The inning was capped by a sac fly from Dotson to score Huber and a solo homer by Cawley.
UIndy responded with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth, but Cawley collected her second RBI of the game on a single to score Lehman and push Indiana's lead to 8-4.
Freshmen Josie Wood and Olivia White combined to allow just three earned runs by the Greyhounds.
The second game of the day saw the Hoosiers get on the board early as Dotson took a bases-loaded walk to bring in sophomore Rebecca Blitz in the first.
