Three Hoosiers Earn Weekly Big Ten Honors

CHICAGO – Three Indiana University swimmers earned weekly Big Ten honors on Wednesday, the league office announced.
Gia Dalesandro was named co-Women's Swimmer of the Week, while Lilly King was named women's Freshman of the Week. On the men's side, Ali Khalafalla was named co-Swimmer of the Week.
Dalesandro had a tremendous meet for the Hoosiers against Auburn last weekend, winning three individual races. Dalesandro swept the butterfly events, winning the 100 in a time of 53.44 and the 200 with a mark of 1:57.89 – both NCAA B cut times and season-bests. Dalesandro also touched first in the 200 IM, winning with a season-best time of 2:01.68.
King had one of her best meets for IU at Auburn, sweeping the breaststroke events with a pair of NCAA B cut marks. The freshman won the 100 in a time of 1:00.74 and the 200 with a time of 2:11.64. King also impressed in the 200 IM, placing fourth with a mark of 2:03.67. All three times for King were season-bests.
Khalafalla continued dominance in the sprint freestyle for the Hoosiers against Auburn, winning the 50 free with a season-best and NCAA B cut time of 19.70.
The Indiana men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be back in action on Friday, November 13 when the Hoosiers will host Wisconsin in a dual meet at 2 p.m. at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington, Ind.
