Lemonis Announces Hoosier Baseball 13-Player Signing Class

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana head baseball coach Chris Lemonis announced Friday his program's 13-player recruiting class that will join the team next fall. The class includes six players from the state of Indiana, three from Illinois, and one from Wisconsin, New Jersey, Missouri and Canada.
"I want to commend our coaches, Kyle Cheesebrough, Kyle Bunn, Shawn Roof, Roger Rodeheaver and all of our staff on campus who have helped put this class together," said Lemonis. "We feel like this is one of the top classes in the country. It is a product of a year's worth of hard work and grinding it out on the road. We are excited to get these guys to campus and we feel like we have signed a talented group of student-athletes."

Plays for Chuck Brimbury at Peru High School…Was 4-3 with 75 strikeouts during the 2015 season…Hit .454 with 21 extra-base hits including eight home runs…Named a First Team All-Conference selection in 2014 and 2015 after earning Honorable Mention honors during his freshman year in 2013…Named the Miami County Player of the Year in 2015 and was an All-State selection…Team won the 2015 3A Sectional title…Played for the Summit City Sluggers, coached by Mark Delagarza and Cam Branock in the summer, and the Cincinnati Reds Midwest Scout Team coached by Andy Stack.
Jack Eagan – LHP
Plays for Tom Butt and Joe Anklam at Wautoma High School…Entering his senior year, he is a three-time First-Team All-Conference selection, a two-time Conference Player of the Year, a two-time First-Team All-State selection and was named the State Gatorade Player of the Year in 2015…Team won the 2014 SCC Conference Championship…During the 2015 season, was 5-4 with an 0.89 ERA, while allowing just 19 hits in 47 1/3 innings and striking out 80 batters…Also hit .463 at the plate during the 2015 campaign, hitting four home runs and driving in 32…Played travel ball for the GRB Rays, coached by Greg Reinhard, and the Cincinnati Reds Midwest Scout Team.
Matt Gorski – SS/OF
Plays for Scott Henson and assistant coach Kory Seitz (IU Alum) at Hamilton Southeastern High School…During the 2015 season, hit .347 with 16 extra-base hits including four home runs and 26 RBI…Team won two Sectional titles in 2015 and 2013…Plays travel ball for the Indiana Nitro, coached by Eric Osborn…In 2015, he hit .511 at the WWBA Tournament, earning All-Tournament Team honors as his squad qualified for the Super 25 Tournament in Florida in both 2014 and 2015…Two-sport athlete, as he is also a three-year letterwinner for the Hamilton Southeastern soccer squad.
Jeremy Houston – SS
Plays for Brian Hurry at Mount Carmel High School…Since his sophomore year, has batted .366 playing at the shortstop position on the varsity team…Has won a baseball state championship as well as a football state championship during his time in high school…Also plays travel ball for the Chicago White Sox ACE, coached by Kevin Coe and Rob Fletcher.
Cal Krueger – RHP/C/3B
Plays for Terry Gobert at Jasper High School…Last season, was 10-1 with a 0.74 ERA in 75 1/3 innings of work…Struck out 104 batters…Hit .365 with a .525 OPB, while hitting two home runs…Was named to the 2015 Max Preps Junior All-American First Team and the Medium Schools All-American Second Team…Earned 2015 Indiana All-State honors by IHSBCA, USA Today and Prep Baseball Report…Was named the Evansville Courier and Press Southwestern Indiana Player of the Year…Selected First Team Big 8 All-Conference in 2014 and 2015…Team has won three-straight Big 8 Conference titles and was the state runner-up in 2013 and 2015…Plays travel ball for the Iron Men, coached by Mark Peters…Is also a field goal kicker for the football team.
Brad Littleton – RHP
Plays for Jerry McDowell at Coal City High School…Was 9-0 with 108 strikeouts and 12 walks in 65 innings of work during the 2015 season, posting a 1.07 ERA…Has a current streak of five shutouts and 40 consecutive innings with no runs scored heading into the 2016 season…Named the 2015 Morris Herald Prep Baseball Player of the Year and the Kankakee Daily Journal Player of the Year…Was an All-County selection in 2014 and 2015, while earning All-State honors in 2015…Team went 14-2 during the 2015 campaign, winning the I-8 Conference Championship…Played for RHINO Baseball in the summer, coached by Greg Tehako, where his squad was the 2015 Perfect Game Super 25 Regional champions.
Matt Lloyd – INF/RHP
Comes to Indiana from Iowa Western CC, where he plays for Marc Rardin…Sat out last season…Hit .409 with seven home runs and 42 RBI in 2013 during his senior year of high school…Was named the Midget AAA Player of the Year…Has had playing experience with Team Canada, where his squad won the Bronze Medal at the 2014 Pan Am Games in Mexico…Has also played travel baseball for the Okotoks Dawgs.
Jake Matheny – C
Played at Westminster Academy for Rich VanGikst…Ranked No. 3 in the State of Missouri by Perfect Game and 191st nationally as of Aug. 28, 2015…Named to the All-Tournament Team at the Perfect Game WWBA World Championship…Hit .325 with 13 doubles, three triples, three home runs and 26 RBI at Westminster Academy during his junior season… Also pitched, posting a 6-3 record with a 1.27 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 60 2/3 innings…Plays for Elite Baseball Training in the summer for Rich Ruffolo…Son of former MLB catcher and current St. Louis Cardinals Manager Mike Matheny.

Played for Mike Rooney at Don Bosco Prep…Was a perfect 4-0 during the 2015 season…Was ranked in the Top 300 by Perfect Game for LHP prospects during the 2015 season…Team went on to win the 2015 Bergen County Championship, posting a 29-1 record and was ranked the No. 9 high school baseball team in the nation by USA Today and MaxPreps…Also played travel ball for Indiana Prospects, coached by Shane Stout, and Wladyka Baseball, coached by Jim Wladyka.
Justin Reed – RHP
Plays for Richard Winzenread at Lawrence North High School…Last season, led team in saves, innings pitched, stolen bases, triples and saves...Pitched for his travel ball team, the Pony Express, coahed by Jon Richardson…Pitched down in Georgia for the Pony Express and beat the then ranked number one team in the nation, the Orlando Scorpions.
Andrew Saalfrank – LHP
Went 10-1 for Heritage High School for head coach Dean Lehrman during the 2015 season, posting an ERA of 1.07…Struck out 138 batters in just 65 2/3 innings of work while allowing only 23 hits…Holds his high school school record for career strikeouts with 329 through his junior year…Drove in 36 runs during his junior season as well, hitting at a .378 clip…Plays travel ball for the Indiana Outlaws, coached by Jay Hundley.
Jack Suwinski – OF/LHP
Plays for Coach Richard Pildes at Taft High School in Chicago…Starter on the varsity squad since his freshman year…Was named an All-Conference selection in 2013, 2014 and 2015…Named to the Chicago Public Schools All-Star team in 2015…Squad started the season 24-0 in 2015, reaching the City Semifinals…Played travel ball for the Illinois Indians, coached by Nelson Gord…While with the Indians, was a 2015 Perfect Game Honorable Mention selection.
Skylar Szynski – RHP
No. 1-ranked player in the state of Indiana…Plays for Greg Dikos at Penn High School…Posted a 10-1 overall record during the 2015 season…Struck out 103 batters in 82 innings of work, recording three saves while posting an 0.80 ERA and a .137 opponent batting average…Was a 2014 and 2015 First-Team All-Conference selection…Earned 2015 All-State honors and was selected 2014 Prep Baseball Indiana Player of the Year…Team won the 2015 IHSAA 4A State Baseball Championship and the 2014 Sectional Championship…Also played for the Penn Black travel ball team.
