No. 14 Hoosiers Cruise Past Creighton, 86-65

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Five players scored in double-figures for No. 14 Indiana in a commanding, 86-65 victory over Creighton in front of a sold-out crowd of 17,471 in Assembly Hall. The game was part of the inaugural Gavitt Tipoff Games that featured matchups between the BIG EAST and the Big Ten.
James Blackmon, Jr. led all Hoosiers (3-0) with 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists, while Thomas Bryant added 17 points to go with seven rebounds and four blocks. Kevin Yogi Ferrell totaled 15 points, career-high nine rebounds and six assists in the victory.
Troy Williams had 13 points for IU, while Nick Zeisloft rounded out the double-figure scorers with 12 points off the bench on 4-of-6 shooting from the 3-point line.
Leading 14-10 at the 13:53 mark of the first half, the Hoosiers seized control with a 14-1 run over the next 2:31, pushing their advantage over the Bluejays to 28-11 with 11:22 left in the first stanza.
At the halftime break, Indiana held a 51-32 lead over Creighton. In the first half, the Hoosiers shot a blistering 51 percent (20-of-39) from the floor, while on the defensive end, IU forcing 10 Creighton turnovers. The 51 points scored in the first half marked the third straight half that the Hoosiers scored exactly 51 points.
Indiana continued to control the game on both ends of the floor in the second half, extending their lead over the Bluejays.
With IU leading 71-54 at the 7:19 mark, the Hoosiers went on a 15-5 run over the next 5:17, extending their advantage to 86-59 with just 2:02 left in the game.
Creighton entered the game averaging 98 points over their first two games and shooting 53.6 percent from the floor. But Indiana held them to 65 points and 45.0 percent shooting.
The Indiana Hoosiers will head to Hawaii to play in the Maui Jim Maui Invitational beginning on Monday, November 23. IU will face Wake Forest at 5 p.m. ET with the game broadcast live on ESPN2.
