Hoosiers Battle, But Fall Against No. 4 Minnesota on Senior Night

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana volleyball team fell in four sets (17-25, 18-25, 25-23, 15-25) against No. 4 Minnesota on Saturday at University Gym.
The Hoosiers (16-16, 6-14) honored their five seniors (Awele Nwaeze, Amelia Anderson, Chanté George, Kyndall Merritt and Courtney Harnish) after the match.
Anderson tallied 11 kills to finish the season with 403 and 1,126 for her career, which ranks 15th in school history for career kills.
Senior Awele Nwaeze added 13 kills and six blocks for the match. Nwaeze ends her IU career with 319 blocks in three seasons for IU, which ranks 10th best in school history for career blocks.
Senior Courtney Harnish reached double-digit digs for the seventh straight match and 23rd match of the season. Harnish ends her career with 1,120 digs, which ranks seventh in school history for career digs.
Junior setter Megan Tallman posted over 1,000 assists for the second straight season and at the end of three years ranks seventh in school history for career assists with 2,908. Tallman posted a double-double against Minnesota with 47 assists and 12 digs.
The Hoosiers played with great fight against the No. 4 ranked team in the country. After 13 errors in the first set, Indiana had just 14 for the rest of the match. The Hoosiers hit .394 in the second set and won set three by hitting at a .311 hitting percentage with 16 kills and two errors.
The Hoosiers finish the season 16-16 overall and 6-14 in Big Ten play. It's just the fourth time in the last 20 years the program has won six or more Big Ten matches in back-to-back seasons.
