School Record Twelve Hoosiers Honored by B1G

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - A school record 12 Indiana football standouts were recognized by the Big Ten on Monday and Tuesday evening. Redshirt sophomore kicker Griffin Oakes was named the Bakken-Andersen Kicker of the Year and first team All-Big Ten.
Redshirt junior right guard Dan Feeney and junior running back Jordan Howard collected first team All-Big Ten honors. Senior left tackle Jason Spriggs was a second team selection and senior quarterback Nate Sudfeld was a third team honoree.
Seven additional Hoosiers received honorable mention recognition: sophomore wide receiver Simmie Cobbs, Jr., fifth-year senior tight end Michael Cooper, junior defensive tackle Darius Latham, senior defensive end Nick Mangieri, redshirt sophomore linebacker Marcus Oliver, redshirt junior return specialist Mitchell Paige and fifth-year senior bandit Zack Shaw.
Fifth-year senior center Jake Reed was named Indiana's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner.

- IU's 12 honorees are a school record
- Coupled with Tevin Coleman (2014), this is the third time in school history two different IU running backs have earned first team honors in back-to-back years: Marv Woodson (1962) and Tom Nowatzke (1963-64); Vern Huffman (1936) and Corby Davis (1937)
- IU is the first Big Ten team with different running backs earning first team honors in back-to-back years since Ohio State in 2006 and 2007 (Antonio Pittman and Chris Wells)
- Feeney is the first IU first team offensive lineman since 1989 (Ian Beckles and Ron Vargo)
- This is the first time two IU offensive linemen have made one of the teams since 1989
- This is the first time IU has had four offensive players make one of the teams since 1989 (Beckles, Todd Oberdorf, Anthony Thompson and Vargo)
- This is the first time IU has had two offensive players on the first team since 2001 (Antwaan Randle El and Levron Williams)
- This is the first time IU has had three first team players since 2007 (James Hardy, Greg Middleton, Tracy Porter and Austin Starr)
- Oakes is the first IU first team kicker since 2007 (Starr)
- Oakes is the first IU kicker to ever win Kicker of the Year
