Trio of Hoosiers Win NFHCA All-Region Honors

Indiana Earns three honorees for the fourth time in program history
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced the 2015 Longstreth / NFHCA Division I All-Region Teams this week, honoring the top college field hockey players in the country. The Indiana Hoosiers landed three selections to the All-West Region Team: junior defender Kate Barber (First Team), senior defender Sydney Supica (Second Team), and freshman goalkeeper Noëlle Rother (Second Team).
Barber adds this first team honor to her First Team All-Big Ten selection this season. The Indiana captain also received a Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week award for wins over Ohio State and Penn State in the 2015 regular season.
Barber finished second on the Hoosiers in goals, assists, and points as Indiana's central defender in 2015. She dominated on set plays this season, recording six goals and five assists from penalty corners.
Supica picks up her second selection to the All-West Region second team, earning the honor in the 2014 season. Supica also received Second Team All-Big Ten honors in 2015, along with a Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week award.
The senior from Ann Arbor, Mich. led the Hoosiers in defensive saves this season with six, the second-highest total in a single season in school history. Supica now has the Indiana record for career defensive saves (22), along with the top three single-season totals in school history. On the attack, Supica served one assist and scored three goals, including game-winners against Penn State and Rutgers.
Supica concluded this season with an appearance in the 2015 Victory Sports Tours / NFHCA Division I Senior Game, which took place in Ann Arbor, Mich. on November 22. In front of her hometown crowd, Supica scored a hat trick to lead her squad to a senior game victory.
Rother adds this award to a highly decorated freshman season with Indiana. The goalkeeper also picked up a Second Team All-Big Ten selection and four Big Ten weekly honors (an Indiana single-season record). Rother earned three Big Ten Freshman of the Week awards and one Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Rother made an outstanding debut season in goal for the Hoosiers. Rother played 1,285 minutes between the posts for Indiana, recording 106 saves (3rd – IU single-season) and three shutouts (T-2nd – IU single-season). Her season save percentage of .768 ranks fourth in Indiana history.
