BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana women's golf and head coach Clint Wallman added a pair of talented student-athletes to the fold during the early signing period, signing Emma Fisher (Bloomington, Ind.) and Elisa Pierre (Santa Clarita, Calif.) to a National Letter of Intent.
"We are very excited about Emma and Elisa becoming Hoosiers," Wallman said. "Both are extremely talented and will make an immediate impact to the program." Emma Fisher Fisher, a Bloomington, Indiana, native played high school golf for Bloomington High School South and was named all-state as a senior. She qualified for the USGA Girls Amateur and IMG World Junior Tournament in 2015 and helped Bloomington South to the state finals as a team after winning conference and sectional crowns. Earlier in her prep career, she was named the Herald-Times Co-Area Player of the Year and advanced to the state finals three times where she placed 13th, 22nd and seventh.
She is the daughter of Chris and Susan Liggett and Michael and Jessica Fisher and has two sisters. At Indiana, she intends to major in Cinema and Media Arts – Studies and Production.
"I have had the privilege of watching Emma grow as a player throughout her junior career," Wallman said. "She has tremendous natural talent and can move the ball a long distance off the tee, which gives her the opportunity to overpower a golf course. I am excited to watch her game grow and mature as she competes as a collegiate player." Elisa Pierre Pierre, who hails from Santa Clarita, California, played high school golf at Golden Valley High School, where she was the league champion the past three seasons. She also won the Newhall Cup title the last three years, making her the first player in league history to win the league and Newhall Cup three consecutive years. In 2015, she set a new tournament record at the Newhall Cup with her score of 5-under par over 27 holes to get the win. Her winning ways started in 2013 as she helped Golden Valley to its first-ever league title and went on to place eighth in the CIF State Championship. She also posted 33 wins on the SCPGA Junior Tour and received the CIF Champion for Character Award, the first person from her high school to ever earn that honor. She is the daughter of Michael and Berenice Pierre and has one sister. Pierre intends to major in Business at Indiana.
"Elisa is a big time player," Wallman said. :She reminds me a lot of a junior version of Jordan Speith. She is extremely polished with her game and plays with maturity beyond her years. It says a lot when you can post the record she has posted playing against the best juniors in the nation. I have no doubt she will excel competing at the college level."
Fisher and Pierre will both join the team as freshmen starting with the Fall 2016 semester.
