Indiana’s junior captain picks up her third and fourth postseason award for the 2015 season
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana field hockey junior Kate Barber earned All-America selections from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) and Synapse Sports, announced today by the respective publications. Barber, one of Indiana's captains for the 2015 season, was named to the All-American Third Team by both organizations.
Barber adds these honors to a First Team All-West Region selection by the NFHCA, along with a selection to the All-Big Ten First Team. In addition, Barber earned a Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week award after the Hoosiers' shutout wins over Ohio State (10/16) and Penn State (10/18).
Although Barber anchored Indiana's defense at center back this year, she finished the season ranked second on the team in goals (eight), assists (seven), and points (23). She dominated on set plays this season, tallying six goals and five assists from penalty corners.
Barber is the eighth NFHCA All-American in Indiana field hockey history. She joins 10 other Big Ten field hockey players on the NFHCA All-American team, and is one of eight Big Ten field hockey players on the Synapse Sports All-American team.
