IU’s Connor Wins Three Events at Australian World Cup Trials

MELBOURNE, Australia – Indiana University diver James Connor won three events at the 2016 World Cup Selection Trials in Melbourne this week.
Connor won a pair of individual events at the 2016 World Cup Selection Trials – the 3-meter springboard and platform – and also teamed with Grant Nel to win the 3-meter synchro.
In the 3-meter springboard, Connor won with a score of 471.10 and capture the title in the platform with a mark of 459.90. Connor clinched a spot for Team Australia in the 3-meter springboard. Who dives for Team Australia at the Olympics will be determined at the country's Olympic Trials in April.
Connor will be attempting to qualify for his second Olympic Games. Connor dove for Team Australia in the 2012 Summer Olympics, participating in the 10-meter platform in 2012.
To clarify, an earlier release stated that James Connor had earned his place at the 2016 Rio Olympics for Team Australia. Connor has not clinched a spot in the 2016 Olympics as of yet. Connor will attempt to earn a spot for this coming Olympic Games at the Australian Olympic Trials in April.
