BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – This weekend the Indiana track and field team will send a men’s distance medley relay team and three pole vaulters to the Alex Wilson Invitational Saturday at Notre Dame.
Last year at this meet the Hoosier distance medley relay team set a school record in 9:27.72 over the 4,000m distance. Their time was the fifth best collegiate time of all-time.
The distance medley relay group went on to the NCAA Indoor Championships, where they finished in third-place, their fourth straight top-four finish at the NCAA Championships and seventh consecutive All-America performance.
This year the DMR team will be comprised of three of the four student-athletes that competed on the team last year, Tretez Kinnaird, Derrick Morgan and Rorey Hunter. New to the group this year will be freshman Daniel Kuhn.
Last year six of the 12 NCAA qualifying men’s distance medley relay times were set at this meet.
Also making the trip to the meet will be pole vaulters Sophie Gutermuth, Sydney Clute and Terry Batemon. Gutermuth is currently second in the Big Ten and tied for 13th in the NCAA in the pole vault. Batemon is ranked third in the Big Ten in the event. Clute earned All-America honors last year at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with an eighth-place finish.
The pole vault is schedule to begin at 11:00 a.m. ET with women, followed by men. The men’s distance medley relay will be contested at 12:05 p.m.
