500 Freestyle
Jackson Miller makes it back in the championship final of the 500 freestyle after posting a career-best time of 4:17.26 in prelims. That is the fifth-fastest time in IU history. A trio of Hoosiers earned a spot in the bonus final in Ethan Curl (4:24.16-career best), Grayson Smith (4:24.74) and Timothy Martin (4:26.06-career best).
200 Individual Medley Blake Pieroni and Mike Hurley make the championship final of the 200 individual medley, with Pieroni posting a career time of 1:44.82, good for fourth overall. Hurley qualified sixth with a time of 1:45.04, also a career best. Steve Schmuhl makes the consolation final with a mark of 1:45.89, joined by Bob Glover with his career best 1:46.19. Tanner Kurz (1:46.76-career best) and Ryan Gordon (1:47.06-career best) make the bonus final. Cody Taylor placed 32nd in the field (1:48.09-career best), while Jonathan Panchak was 54th (1:50.41-career best).
50 Freestyle
Competing at his first Big Ten meet, freshman Ali Khalafalla has the second-fastest qualifying time in the 50 free, going 19.46. That is the fourth-fastest time in IU history. Anze Tavcar was the top qualifier in the consolation final with a career best 19.83, and he is joined by Sam Lorentz with his career best of 19.95. Yianni Thermos makes the bonus final in a career best 20.01. Max Irwin finished 30th in a career time of 20.34, while Levi Brock was 51st with his career best of 20.83.
