BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 49 Indiana men’s tennis team plays two home matches on Friday, Feb. 6, as they welcome Murray State for a 9:00 a.m. ET match and No. 44 Oregon at 6:00 p.m. ET. Both matches will be played at the IU Indoor Tennis Center, located across the parking lot from the North end of Assembly Hall.
The Hoosiers (4-1) are coming off victories against Western Michigan and Northern Illinois in their home opener last Sunday. Following those wins the Hoosiers received a ranking of 49 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings. It is the first time since Feb. 19, 2013 that Indiana has been ranked inside the top-50.
The Hoosiers had great crowds for their home matches last weekend, something head coach Jeremy Wurtzman and the team appreciated.
“It was great to have our first home match and we had so many fans in the stands,” Wurtzman said. “It means a lot to us and it’s a much better environment and it helps us to have a great crowd. We are going to work hard to put a great match every time we are out there.”
Wurtzman has emphasized the team culture aspect and the players have worked hard and have come together as a team in the last few weeks.
“The coaches have done a great job building that team culture,” freshman Raheel Manji said. “We have built a brotherhood and the team is super confident in each other and we are out there competing with each other and for our teammates.”
Live results from the match will be available on IUHoosiers.com and a full recap will be posted later in the day on IUHoosiers.com as well.
For the 6:00 p.m. match against Oregon there will be free pizza for fans between the doubles and singles matches.
