TEMPE, Ariz. - The Indiana softball team fell in their second game of the Kajikawa Classic, losing to Oregon State, 10-6.
Oregon State jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning after three straight one-out walks from senior pitcher Miranda Tamayo (0-1) loaded the bases. A two-RBI double and a pair of RBI singles brought in four Beavers.
Oregon State added another pair of runs in the top of the second on a two-run ground rule double from Hannah Akamine.
Senior Brianna Meyer put the Hoosiers on the board in the bottom half of the inning as she scored her first run of the year. An inning later, a solo home run blast from Cawley and a RBI double from O'Malley in the fourth inning trimmed the Oregon State lead to 6-3.
However, the Beavers would tack on two more runs in the fifth before adding another in the sixth and seventh inning to push the lead to 10-3.
The Hoosier bats weren't finished as Indiana plated three runs in the bottom half of the seventh inning before ultimately falling to the Beavers, 10-6.
Indiana returns to action tomorrow as the Hoosiers face San Diego at 6:30 p.m. ET and No. 16 Arizona State at 9 p.m. ET
