BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Freshman outfielder Logan Sowers was selected by Baseball America and D1Baseball.com as their prediction for Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2015, with the latter outlet pegging the Hoosiers to clinch their third consecutive NCAA Regional bid.
Sowers, named Indiana Mr. Baseball in 2014 as a high school senior, earned All-State honors at McCutcheon H.S. after hitting .365 with 11 home runs, 30 RBI anda .514 on-base percentage before being selected by the San Diego Padres in the 31st round of the MLB Amateur Draft.
According to D1Baseball.com,
"All the pieces are in place for IU to prolong its run of excellence in the Big Ten."
Baseball America also tabbed pitchers Scott Effross and Christian Morris among the top 15 prospects in the conference in the 2015 draft.
Indiana opens the 2015 season Friday-Sunday, Feb. 13-15, at Stanford.
